Fortbrand Spearheads Pooled All-Electric Ground Support Fleet at JFK Terminal 6

Fortbrand Services is proud to announce its partnership with JFK Millennium Partners (JMP) to manage and operate the common-use, all-electric ground support fleet at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s new Terminal 6.

This first-of-its-kind program will make JFK the first airport in North America to deploy pooled electric ground support equipment (e-GSE). The initiative will eliminate redundant diesel-powered fleets, reduce airside congestion, and is expected to cut more than 2,500 metric tons of CO₂ emissions annually — the equivalent of driving 6 million miles in a gasoline-powered car.

“Fortbrand was founded over 40 years ago to support New York’s airports, so we are excited to partner with JMP to provide JFK Terminal 6 with essential equipment, maintenance, and fleet management services for this innovative operation,” said Jared Verano, CEO of Fortbrand Services.

Each of Terminal 6’s 10 gates will be outfitted with its own dedicated set of e-GSE, shared among airlines in a common-use model. Fortbrand will oversee the equipment, real-time telematics, and charging infrastructure to ensure maximum safety, efficiency, and operational reliability.

Rick Cotton, Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, said, “The agreement between JFK Millennium Partners and Fortbrand to serve Terminal 6 with shared electric ground support equipment represents an exciting step toward reaching our goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.”

Terminal 6 is currently under construction, with its first six gates expected to open in 2026 and full completion scheduled for 2028.

This milestone underscores Fortbrand’s leadership in advancing sustainable aviation solutions and our commitment to shaping the future of ground support operations.
